Public sector receives a business and innovation award!

Executive Director of the Government Procurement Policy Board (GPPB)-Technical Support Office, Atty. Rowena Candice M. Ruiz, received the United Kingdom Alumni Awards for Business and Innovation Award for spearheading the complete digitalization of public procurement services, contributing towards innovation, efficiency, and greater responsiveness and accountability in the use of government resources, such as through the Green and Gender Responsive Procurement and the Philippines’ COVID-19 Response Program. She was also one of the leading actors in securing the Philippines’ Observer Status in the World Trade Organization.

The Business and Innovation Award recognizes alumni who are actively initiating and contributing to innovative or creative new ideas, solutions, or business opportunities, that have the growth potential.

ED Ruiz was a 2016 Chevening Scholar with a Master of Laws in Globalization and Development from the University of London. Her master’s degree inspired her to push for innovative reforms that improve efficiency and transparency in public procurement in the Philippine government system.
