The Government Procurement Policy Board – Technical Support Office was invited by the Office of the Executive Secretary to present the Sagip Saka modality in support of the FY 2026 Local Government Support Fund.

At the center of the discussion: how procurement can go beyond compliance and become a direct tool to put food on the table, support local livelihoods, and strengthen national food security under the Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program.

By enabling government agencies to procure directly from farmers and fisherfolk, Sagip Saka shortens the supply chain, ensures fair income for producers, and delivers affordable, quality goods to communities faster. It transforms public procurement into a mechanism that is not only efficient, but also inclusive and community-driven.

Present during the meeting were Atty. Sofia Yanto-Abad, Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the GPPB-TSO, together with Atty. Shann Tanaka-Montefrio, Renlay Concha, and Cheng Bigay from GPPB-TSO; Atty. Dennis Santiago, Usec. Georgina Yang, Usec. Kim Robert De Leon, Dir. Rea Uy-Epistola, Atty. RC Marcial, Atty. Thea Ruth Gonzales, Kriselle Palen, Regina Ramoy, Nizam Pabil, Crismel Dara Tengson-Oliveros

and Ruzell Bañares, from the Office of the Executive Secretary; Hector Cortez, Dondon Marcos, and Osana Domingo, Regional Directors from COA; and Maria Angela Salud B. Mamuyac, Zaldy Masangkay, and Lucita dela Pena from DILG.

Together, we move forward in empowering LGUs, supporting our farmers and fisherfolk, and delivering meaningful programs that uplift Filipino lives.
