The Government Procurement Policy Board – Technical Support Office (GPPB-TSO), represented by Officer-in-Charge and Director General Atty. Sofia C. Yanto-Abad, joined partners and stakeholders at Sagip Saka Day 2026 held on 9 May 2026 at the Quezon City MICE Center.
With the theme “Sagip Saka: Kita ay Angat. Pagkain ay Sapat.”, the event gathered national government agencies, local government units, private sector partners, farmers’ cooperatives, and development organizations to strengthen support for Filipino farmers and fisherfolk.
The event also featured Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, principal author of the Sagip Saka Act, who delivered an inspirational message and led the launch of Gawad Sagip Saka.
Atty. Yanto-Abad served as one of the panelists in the discussion on Government Direct Procurement Innovations through Sagip Saka, highlighting the role of public procurement in creating more inclusive, responsive, and sustainable pathways for government agencies to directly support agricultural communities.
Under the New Government Procurement Act, Negotiated Procurement – Sagip Saka provides a pathway for procuring entities to engage eligible farmers, fisherfolk, and their organizations, helping connect public procurement needs with local agricultural producers. In this way, procurement becomes not only a compliance mechanism, but also a tool for inclusive growth, food security, and rural development.
Through policy guidance, capacity development, and stakeholder support, GPPB-TSO remains committed to advancing procurement reforms that empower communities and help build a stronger Bagong Pilipinas.
